Vermillion County-This afternoon at 2:03, Indiana State Police and Vermillion County emergency agencies responded to a motor vehicle crash on State Road 63 at Hazel Bluff Road. The crash involved a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck. Both drivers and one passenger were injured.

Preliminary investigation revealed a northbound 2008 Volvo tractor, pulling an empty box trailer, and driven by 26-year-old Elyorbeck Asranov of Chicago, Illinois, failed to stop for the red automatic traffic signal. Traveling eastbound through the intersection on a green light was a gold 2005 GMC pickup pulling a pontoon style boat, driven by 53-year-old Mark A. Lowry of Clinton, IN. The tractor-trailer struck the pickup on the passenger side. The vehicles came to final rest off the northeast corner of the intersection with the tractor-trailer striking a utility pole.

Elyorbeck Asranov was treated at Union Hospital of Clinton for facial injuries and arm and leg pain. Mark Lowry was treated at Union Hospital of Clinton for head, neck, shoulder, and back pain. A passenger in the Lowry vehicle, Adam C. Salmond, age 24, of West Terre Haute, IN., was also treated at Union Hospital of Clinton for Head, Neck, and Facial Pain.

Elyorbeck Asranov was cited for disregarding an automatic signal and additional charges are pending as Asranov tested positive for a controlled substance. The tractor-trailer was operated by Arn Freight of Palos Hills, Illinois. The trailer was empty.

The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Ted Robertson. Assisting were several ISP troopers, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton City Fire Department, Black Diamond Fire Department, and Vermillion County EMS.

A full commercial vehicle inspection of the tractor-trailer will be conducted by ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Trooper Brent Hoover.
