Safe Winter Driving Tips

Check your windshield Wipers and Defrosters

• Inspect your wiper blades and make sure they’re working properly.
• Replace worn out wiper blades.
• Check to see if your window defrosters are working properly (front and rear).

Inspect your Tires

• Check the tire tread and if tires are bald replace.
• Check tire pressure and make sure the tires are at the recommended inflation pressure as indicated on the side walls of the tire.

Check Lighting

• Inspect all lights on the vehicle as they are very important for your safety. Inspect brake lamps, headlamps, as well as fog lamps. In foggy conditions, lighting plays a major role in preventing accidents.

Power Outages

Follow these safety tips during power outages where street lights may be affected.
• Stop at all intersections, then proceed with caution. Remember the vehicle on the right has the right of way.
• When the lights are flashing red treat the intersection as if it had stop signs.
• Obey law enforcement officers who are directing traffic.
• If you pull off the roadway use your emergency flashers to alert approaching traffic
• Watch out for pedestrians as the roads are darkened during power outages.
