Putnamville Trooper Busy this Morning

Putnamville—This morning, troopers from the Putnamville Post were kept busy with numerous traffic issues related to freezing rain and slick roadways.

Troopers responded to (11) slide-offs, (3) minor injury crashes, and (11) property damage crashes. No serious injuries were reported.

The largest concentration of incidents was in Vigo, Clay and Putnam counties with the busiest section for calls on I-70 in Putnam County. All of the crashes and slide-offs were on I-70 except for one property damage crash on US 150 and one property damage crash on the SR 63 Bridge over the Wabash River, both in Vigo County.

The primary cause for the majority of the incidents was driver’s failing to reduce their speed for the weather conditions. Motorists are reminded to slow down, stay off electronic devices, do not follow too closely and use caution during inclement weather.

Interstate 70 was stop and go in various locations this morning due to the crashes and slide-offs.

Attached pictures are from a one vehicle crash on the US 150 bridge and a one vehicle crash on Interstate 70, both in Vigo County. I have no additional pictures.
