Pennsylvania Weather Overview
 
A system will affect portions of Pennsylvania today into tonight.
 
A weak low pressure system will move track west of Pennsylvania.
 
A moist southerly flow ahead of this system will lead to a light wintry mix.
Precipitation should begin as light snow or sleet, then change to freezing rain or
drizzle over most of the area.
 
Snow accumulation is expected to generally less than an inch.
 
Ice accumulations should range from only a trace across the southeast counties of
Pennsylvania, to a quarter inch over the highest terrain of the Alleghenies.
 
Precipitation should gradually change to rain from south to north tonight, as warmer air
works in.
 
Travel impacts are expected today, as there is the potential for a thin
layer of black ice on untreated surfaces, creating Hazardous conditions
for both motorists and pedestrians.
 
Temperatures will hover in the lower-mid 30s all day long through
central Pennsylvania.
 
Temperatures through western Pennsylvania will warm to the upper
30s to low 40s by Tuesday afternoon.
 
The high terrain of the Allegheny Mountains will receive the highest
ice accumulations.
 
Southeastern Pennsylvania will see a light wintry mix, changing to rain
this evening.
 
Freezing rain will linger until around midnight across the north central
mountains.
 
Main hazard will be icy roadways and sidewalks due to a thin layer of
black ice.
