On 11-25-2014, Rutherford County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer, Cpl. Jeff Smith, stopped to check a suspicious vehicle at West Church Street in Bostic, NC, as he was on his way to his assigned school.
Occupants of the vehicle were Jeffery Shane Codgell and Ashley Nicole Bailey.
Cpl. Smith and Cpl. Tim Martin with the R.C.S.O. Interdiction Team, were given consent to search the vehicle.
Officers discovered a methamphetamine lab inside the car.
Officers secured the area around the car and requested assistance from Rutherford County Narcotic's Unit and the S.B.I. to assist in the case.
Bostic Fire Department also was on scene.
Ashley Bailey was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. Bond was set at $45,000.00 secured.
Jeffery Cogdell was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possess methamphetamine, posses schedule IV, and posses drug paraphernalia . Cogdell received a $75,000.00 secured bond.
