Mountain Lion reported in the 100 blk of Los Ondas Ct (Upper West Santa Cruz). The animal was not located. Contact SCPD if sighted.

A thorough check of the surrounding neighborhood was conducted by SCPD and the Dept of Fish & Wildlife and the mountain lion was not seen. Residents are encouraged to use caution and safeguard pets and small children. There is always a risk in the urban interface areas.

Original information:

A mountain lion sighting was reported to the Santa Cruz Police Department around 8:00am on 11-25-14. The Puma was reportedly seen in the backyard of a residence.

Residents are advised to use caution and secure small pets and children. The Santa Cruz Police Department is patrolling the area looking for signs of the Puma. A reverse 911 call was placed to residents in the area to advise. Fish and Wildlife Wardens were notified and have responded.
