11/25/14, press release: Man with Gunshot Wound

On November 25, 2014 at about 11:15 am Burlington Police and Fire Departments were called to the grassy area at the intersection of Cherry Street and St. Paul Street in Burlington for a report of a man with an accidental gunshot wound to his leg. On arrival the man was stabilized by the Burlington Fire Department and transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the man had removed the gun from a holster and while trying to re-holster the gun it went off. The discharged round struck him in the leg. Witnesses in the area provided first aid.

The reason the gun had been removed from the holster is still under investigation but there is no indication that it was removed with criminal intent at this stage.

The man’s name has not yet been released to allow him time to contact family and friends. He is 30 years old and resides in Burlington.

Investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact Burlington Police at 802-658-2704 or Crimestoppers at 802-864-6666.
