Press Release: Hit and Run Motor Vehicle Crash with Injury

NARRATIVE:
On 11/21/2014 at approximately 8:21 PM, the Township of Ocean Police Department responded to a hit and run motor vehicle crash at the intersection of West Park Avenue and Whalepond Road.
An investigation revealed that a vehicle being operated by 57 year old West Long Branch resident was struck from behind while at the intersection of West Park Avenue and Whalepond Road. The driver sustained minor neck and head injuries and was transported to Monmouth Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
The operator of the accused vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was able to provide officers with the license plate of that fleeing vehicle. The vehicle and operator were located a short time later at a residence on Roosevelt Avenue in the Oakhurst section of town. The operator was identified as Mehrnush Timouri. Ms. Timouri was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters.
Ms. Timouri was issued a traffic summons for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident as well as several equipment violations. She was released and scheduled to appear at a future municipal court hearing.
