SVPD Narcs Jail Another Heroin Dealer
On November 21, 2014, Narcotics Detectives from the Simi Valley Police Department’s Special Operations Unit completed a four week long investigation into the sales of heroin in Simi Valley with the arrest of 29 year old Carlin Burris at his residence. Detectives and officers from the Special Operations Unit served a search warrant at Burriss’ s residence in the 3000 block of Penney Drive in Simi Valley. During the search of the residence, Detectives located approximately 7 grams of heroin, packaging material and other evidence of narcotics sales. Burris was arrested for 11351 H&S, Possession of Heroin for Sale. He was booked and is currently being held at the Main Jail in Ventura in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Although 7 grams may seem to be a small quantity, the arrest and seizure of the heroin prevented up to 70 doses of heroin (depending on the users tolerance and habit) from reaching the streets of Simi Valley.
The arrest of Burris is the fourth sales or possession for sales arrest Narcotics Detectives have made since the passage of Proposition 47. While personal possession of narcotics and dangerous drugs has become a misdemeanor, the sales, transportation, offering, giving, or possession with the intent to sell narcotics and dangerous drugs is still a felony. The Simi Valley Police Department remains committed to reducing the flow of illegal drugs into the City of Simi Valley and into the hands of our residents.
