LOCK IT – HIDE IT – KEEP IT! Residential burglary - Suspects in custody.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY – SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY - At 3:38 a.m. today, a resident in the 1600 block of Via Allegre, San Dimas, called to report someone inside their garage. Responding deputies learned that the victim inadvertently left their overhead garage door open, and two men were seen leaving the garage. Deputies located one male hiding on a nearby street. Upon checking the location he was hiding, they recovered items stolen from the garage. In addition, he had a checkbook in his pocket that was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Via Esperanza. The second suspect was not immediately located. At about 6:05 a.m., a deputy was patrolling the neighborhood looking for the second suspect. She located a male on Via Esperanza matching the description, and found him to be in possession of an item stolen from a vehicle in the garage of the first victim. The suspects were identified as 18 year old Alex Powell of Altadena and Briley Lambert, also 18, of Covina. Powell was wanted by another police department because his prints were found at the scene of a recent residential burglary. Both suspects were booked at San Dimas Station for residential burglary.

We’d like to remind all residents that most residential burglaries occur during daylight hours.  Also, historically and virtually everywhere, most thefts from vehicles occur from cars that are unlocked.  Keep valuables in vehicles hidden from plain view, and in most cases, electronics and other easy targets should not be left on the street overnight.  Thank you for helping us keep our neighborhoods safe!
