Newhall, Zone 6, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Info for the week of 11/10/14 through 11/16/14.

A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.

On Sunday the 16th, a 25 year old male used a weapon to take property from a business in the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue.  An employee confronted the suspect and was able to recover the stolen property. 

On Friday the 14th, at 10:40 a.m., a 34 year old male entered a business in the 23400 block of Lyons Avenue and attempted to cash a fictitious check.  The suspect fled but there is evidence which may assist in identifying him.

Between Thursday the 13th, and Friday the 14th, a Ford truck was stolen from the 23700 block of Valle Del Oro.  The truck was later recovered by LAPD in the San Fernando area.

On Monday the 10th, a 30 year old male shoplifted bottles of alcohol from a business in the 23300 block of Lyons Avenue.  The suspect fled in a black Ford sedan.

On Monday the 10th, a cell phone was stolen from a business in the 24200 block of Lyons Avenue.  The phone had been left unattended briefly. 

Between Tuesday the 11th, and Wednesday the 12th, two catalytic converters were stolen from the area near 8th Street and Newhall Avenue.  Both were from Honda Accords.

Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
