APD arrest Amarillo man early Thursday morning after vandalism incident in west Amarillo.

On Wednesday November 19th at 11:06pm, APD officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of SW 45th reference a vandalism. Upon arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that her ex-boyfriend had intentionally rammed her vehicle with his red 90’s model Chevrolet PU then left the area. She advised that while she was inside the business her ex pulled up behind her vehicle struck it and pushed into a concrete barrier. The suspect then left the area. The victim was afraid that her ex might try to go to her apartment and damage items there or even possibly harm her children. Officers then sent other units to the apartments in case he did to go there.

At approximately 11:30pm, an APD officer was driving through the apartment parking lot in the 5900 block of Plum Creek, when he observed a Red Chevy PU matching the description of the suspect vehicle pulling out of the parking lot. The officer activated his emergency equipment and attempted to stop the PU to identify the driver. The driver immediately speeds off and the officers pursued him. After chasing the PU for several minutes, the officers canceled the chase due to the erratic driving of the suspect.

At approximately 1:00am, officers were checking a possible address in the 4600 block of Bowie for the suspect that was driving the Red Chevrolet PU. While checking the area, officers located a W/M walking in the 4600 block of Bowie matching the basic description of the suspect in the evading and the vandalism. As officers approached the male, he took off running and officers again pursued. After a short foot chase the male was captured and taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of two gallon size bags of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia. He is identified as Bernard Jamison Hill W/M 32. Hill was arrested, transported and booked into Randall County jail on charges of Criminal Mischief over $1500; Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces under 5 pounds; Evading Arrest/Detention; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
