Several reports of stolen debit card numbers from Nicolet Bank.
The Green Bay Police Department has received several calls from citizens that bank at Nicolet Bank regarding their debit card numbers being stolen and used in Texas. In many of these cases, the debit cards were used at Walmart and have virtually cleaned out the bank accounts. If you bank with Nicolet, the Green Bay Police Department is encouraging you to monitor your account closely for fraudulent activity.
If you are the victim of a debit/credit card fraud involving Nicolet Bank, you should:
- Document all unauthorized transactions
- Immediately call Nicolet Bank at (800) 369-0226 to report the fraud
- Cancel your debit or credit card and have Nicolet Bank issue you a new one
- Nicolet Bank has informed the Green Bay Police Department that members will not be charged for any fraudulent transactions, however it may take a few days to recover any stolen money and replace it in your account
It is not necessary to report this particular fraud to the police department, as Nicolet Bank is aware that there is a problem and is investigating the incident internally. Nicolet Bank will contact the necessary law enforcement agencies to further investigate the fraud. Nicolet Bank may require you to report the incident to the police if it involves unusual or unique circumstances. If the bank requires you to contact the police, please call your local police or sheriff's office. If you reside within the city limits of Green Bay, you may contact the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448-3208.
At this time, it appears that Nicolet Bank is the only bank experiencing numerous complaints with these common elements. If you bank at a different bank and experience fraud, please contact your bank first, and if advised to do so by the bank, call your local police department to report the incident.
