Arrest of Gallagher Persson for Crimes against Elders, Embezzlement, and Burglary.

WHAT: Arrest of Gallagher Persson (DOB: 1/27/80)

WHERE: 1200 Block of Higuera, San Luis Obispo

On October 23, 2014 a Detective with the Atascadero Police Department discovered several pawn slips with numerous sales of gold and silver pieces by Gallagher Persson to a local licensed secondhand dealer. During his investigation he discovered Persson was employed by Senior Helpers, which is an in home care provider for the elderly, and he was currently caring for a couple in the City of San Luis Obispo. San Luis Obispo Police Detectives were then notified and a joint investigation was initiated.

During their investigation it was discovered that Persson had been caring for this San Luis Obispo couple for over a year. During this time it is believed he had stolen over $100,000 in gold and silver coins and antiques. The investigation also revealed Persson received over $47,000 by selling numerous pieces of these coins and antique silver serving utensils. Approximately $15,000 in stolen property, belonging to these same victims, was recovered at Persson’s residence in Los Osos by investigators.

On November 14, 2014 Persson was arrested in the 1200 block of Higuera in the City of San Luis Obispo. His charges included; PC 368(e) Crimes against Elderly, PC 503 Embezzlement, and PC 459 Burglary. Persson was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $100,000.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The victims of this crime were elderly and were unaware of their loss until they were contacted by law enforcement. This is an ongoing investigation involving Persson. There may also be other victims who are unaware they have been taken advantage of during their home care services by Persson during his employment. Anyone with additional information is asked to notify the San Luis Obispo Police Department, their local law enforcement agency, or Crime Stoppers.
