Suspect Named In Laurel Shooting Incident-Murder Suspect Arrested(Update)
Franklin County: (Update) The suspect in a shooting incident November 04, 2014 in Laurel was arrested within hours of news released naming him as a suspect. Laurel Town Marshal Brad Spurlock took Bertram Rayburn Jr. 61, of Laurel into custody without incident around 3:30 PM on November 17, 2014 at the Laurel Tavern.
According to Indiana State Police Investigator Kip Main, within hours of news being released naming Rayburn as a suspect, several tips were phoned into the post. Laurel Town Marshal Spurlock located Rayburn and placed him under arrest. Investigator Main took custody of Rayburn and transported him to the Franklin County Jail. Rayburn was served notice of the warrant for Murder and then booked into the jail. Investigator Main credits alert citizens for their assistance in the quick apprehension of this suspect.
Several Indiana State Police personnel, the Laurel Town Marshal and citizens' cooperation assisted in the location and apprehension of Rayburn.
Franklin County: A suspect has been named in the shooting incident that took place during the early morning hours of November 04, 2014 in Laurel. The shooting incident claimed the life of Dwight Jones 59, of Laurel.
According to Indiana State Police Investigator Kip Main, after an extensiive follow-up investigation to the shooting incident, on November 12, 2014 a Franklin County arrest warrant for murder was issued for Bertram Rayburn Jr. 61, of Laurel. Rayburn should be considered armed and dangerous.
