Media Release

A Kona man has been charged with 11 offenses after being found in a stolen pickup truck.

On Friday (November 14), Kona patrol officers responded to a 10 p.m. report of suspicious activity at the end of King Kamehameha III Extension in Keauhou. They ran a check on the license plate of a 2004 Ford Ranger in the vicinity and learned that the plate was associated with a different type of vehicle.

Officers arrested the operator, 27-year-old Isaac K. Abrojena of Captain Cook and took him to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

The truck had been reported stolen from a home on Sea Breeze Parkway in Ocean View on October 27. Further investigation led to the recovery from the truck of a sawed-off shotgun with ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia—including paraphernalia associated with the use of crystal methamphetamine.

At 9:15 a.m. Sunday (November 16) , detectives charged Abrojena with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, fraudulent use of license plates, four firearms offenses, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts each of promoting a dangerous drug and possessing illegal drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $14,250. He remained at the cellblock until his initial court appearance on Monday (November 17).
