On Friday, November 14, 2014, at 10:00 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Carson Station deputies conducted an operation to address the growing movement of illegal street racing and cruising.  Social media is used to promote the gathering of vehicles to participate in illegal activities and often draws upwards of 300 vehicles and more than 500 spectators.  Street racing and cruising is not only a public nuisance, it is highly dangerous.  Street racing often results in traffic collisions, injuries and fatalities.

Carson Station deputies spearheaded an operation to specifically target individuals participating in street racing and other reckless driving activities.  The operation utilized law enforcement resources from Carson Station as well as neighboring Sheriff Stations, officers from the California Highway Patrol, and Aero Bureau.  The operation yielded 11 arrests, 17 citations and 8 towed vehicles.
