Greensburg Man Arrested After Stand-off With Police

Decatur County: On November 14, 2014, at approximately 1013 hours, Greensburg Police Department went to a residence on Indiana Street to serve an active warrant. After making contact with the subject at the residence, he refused to come out of the house. The suspect, John Boyce 49 of Greensburg, closed the door and placed barriers behind it and the windows of the house. Boyce made threats against the police and was believed to be in possession of numerous firearms.

Greensburg Police requested the assistance of the Indiana State Police. An Indiana State Police Hostage Crisis Negotiator and the Emergency Response Team were called to the scene. After numerous hours of conversation with Boyce by phone, he walked out of the house and surrendered to the state police at 7:46 PM. Boyce was taken into custody without further incident.

Boyce was transported to the Decatur County Jail. He was booked into the jail facing the Decatur County warrant charge of Intimidation. The investigation of this incident by the Greensburg Police is continuing and Boyce may face additional charges. Further media inquiries should be directed to the Greensburg Police Department.

Several homes in the area of this residence were evacuated for the duration of this incident.
