Arrest for an Assault Downtown SLO

WHAT: Arrest for assault

WHERE: The Flip Flop Shot, 858 Higuera Street

WHEN: Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:34 hours

ARRESTEE: Justin Edmund Pard, 20 year old transient male SLO

VICTIM: 23 year old female resident of San Luis Obispo

On November 13, 2014 at approximately 10:13 hours, Officers responded to the Flip Flop Shop located at 858 Higuera on reports that an assault had just occurred. The female victim was working inside the store when a male subject approached her and initiated a conversation. After several minutes inside the store, the suspect walked up to the victim and struck her with a closed fisted punch to the face. The victim sustained a bloody nose and bruising to her face. The suspect, later positively identified as JUSTIN EDMOND PARD, yelled profanities at the victim and fled after the assault.

Approximately 45 minutes later, an alert owner of a neighboring business, spotted suspect PARD sitting at Barnes and Noble. Officers responded to the area and detained suspect PARD. The victim was transported to the area and was able to positively identify PARD as the individual who assaulted her. During a search of suspect PARD, a 10’ fixed blade kitchen knife was located concealed in the front pocket of his sweatshirt.

PARD was arrested and booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of PC 242, Assault and PC 21310, Carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. Bail was set at $2,000.
