Homicide Detectives Seek the Public’s Assistance in Solving the Murder of 76-year-old Santos Castro
Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining any information related to the murder of 76 year-old Santos Castro. On August 18, 2014, Mr. Castro was beaten while standing on the street corner in front of a Carl’s Jr. Restaurant located at 5600 block of Whittier Boulevard, East Los Angeles. At the time of the incident, Mr. Castro became involved in a struggle over a bicycle with an unknown male Hispanic suspect. During the struggle, the suspect punched Mr. Castro several times in the head, knocking him to the sidewalk. Mr. Castro sustained blunt force trauma to the head and was transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries, hours after the assault.
The suspect was captured on video inside the Carl’s Jr. Restaurant prior to the assault.
Mr. Santos is survived by his wife Leandra Castro, three sisters and four brothers, along with seven kids. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is seeking any information to assist in identifying the suspect responsible for the brutal beating of Mr. Castro.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) Homicide detectives have responded to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center (LAC + USC), to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a male adult.
The victim was transported to LAC+USC Medical Center and pronounced dead after being assaulted on Monday, August 18, 2014, at approximately 8:23 p.m. in the 5600 block of Whittier Boulevard, Los Angeles.
There is no further information available at this time.
