Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Justin Carroll Gibson, 21, of Macedonia Church Loop in Nebo, with felony obtaining property by false pretense and misdemeanor larceny.
An employee of Samirs Quick Stop, on U.S. 70 East in Nebo, reported that a man came into the store, gave her a credit card, pumped $39.16 worth of gas and left. The employee ran the card, and it was rejected because the account was closed.
Brown said witnesses and surveillance video confirmed that the suspect was Gibson.
