Crash Sends Deputy to Hospital

Clinton County-An early morning crash yesterday involving a Clinton County Deputy’s car and a passenger vehicle sends the deputy to the hospital and the other driver to jail.

Troopers Ben Rector and Tyler Stinson were dispatched on November 9th at approximately 4:37 a.m. to SR 28 and County Road 300 West (this location is just west of Frankfort) for a personal injury crash. Upon arrival, Trooper Rector talked with the driver of the red 1999 Mercury Tracer. Upon further investigation, the driver Andrew S. Yantis 33 of Lafayette, IN appeared to be intoxicated. Yantis was offered a test for intoxication and refused. He was cited for Operating While Intoxicated (Refusal) and a citation for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn. Yantis was booked into the Clinton County Jail.

Deputy Anitra D. McKinney 38 years old complained of pain and was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Frankfort with non life threatening injuries. Allegedly, Yantis failed to yield while making a left turn and side swiped the 2009 brown and tan Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The investigation is continuing.

Assisting at the scene was the Frankfort Police Department, Frankfort Fire Department and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.
