Windsor Police Department reports Home Invasion Robber crashes into a tree while evading arrest.

This morning at 1:47 AM, man called from a home on Wilcox Road, in the Town of Windsor, reporting an incident both suspicious and frightening. The man said he was awakened by the sound of a car in his driveway then heard someone try to open his door.

When he called out, a voice answered that the person outside was from the Sheriff’s Office and ordered him to come outside. The Victim complied and saw a man holding a flashlight in one hand and an unknown object in his other. He was near a dark car. The man frisked him and asked him if wanted to be arrested.

The Victim was terrified and was certain the man was not a Deputy. The suspect briefly searched his trailer then told the Victim to go back inside. The man called 911 while reported the suspect was still on the property. While he was on the phone with the dispatcher he heard the trunk slam, the car start and saw the dark colored Volvo leave without headlights on.

Just as the two Windsor Police Officers were arriving on scene the spotted the car leaving. The put on their lights and sirens, but the Volvo sped up and did not yield. The suspect went through several stop signs and intersection at speeds of 80-90 mph southbound on Starr Road.

On Starr Road, just south of Reiman Lane, the roadway makes a 90 degree turn. Because the suspect was driving recklessly fast, he couldn’t negotiate that hard, right-hand turn. He crashed, head-on, into a large oak tree.

The driver, Kory Wayne Messer 27 years of Santa Rosa, was trapped inside the wrecked vehicle. His legs were pinned under the collapsed dashboard. Windsor Fire Department Paramedics responded and removed him from the car. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. The oak tree was badly bruised, but survived.

There were numerous semi-dry marijuana plants in the rear of the Volvo. Messer is currently out on bail for a pending felony matter stemming from driving a stolen car and getting into a pursuit with Santa Rosa PD. That crime occurred a mere six days ago and he produced the $10,000 bail so he was released.

Messer was arrested for several felonies: Home Invasion Robbery, False Imprisonment, Impersonating a Peace Officer, Recklessly Evading a Peace Officer and Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Driving with a Suspended License and Commit a Felony While Out on Bail.

When his medical issues are resolved, he will be booked into jail.
