Anderson Police Arrest Burglar

A local Anderson business owner interrupted a burglary in progress on Sunday, November 9th 2014. Anderson Police were called to the 19800 block of Riverside Avenue at about 9:53 P.M., after a local business owner caught 27 year old Cody Dale Jenkins of Anderson, sitting inside a customer’s locked vehicle that had been parked and left at the location. Jenkins, who gained entry by smashing a window on the vehicle, ran from the scene upon being discovered.

The business owner and his dog gave chase but Jenkins was able to escape after jumping over a fence. Jenkins ended up losing a shoe while jumping the fence that surrounded the business. Anderson Police arrived on scene and located Jenkins walking in close proximity to the business within a few minutes. Jenkins was spotted by an officer and was found walking westbound on Riverside Avenue. Jenkins was contacted wearing one shoe and was subsequently detained. Jenkins was identified shortly after being detained as the responsible by the business owner who brought the missing shoe with him to make the ID.

During the investigation, police learned that Jenkins had smashed the window and broke into at least two vehicles at the location. Jenkins who was unknown to the business owner told police that he was looking for valuables to steal. Jenkins was booked into the Shasta County Jail for vandalism, vehicle tampering, and public intoxication. Felony burglary charges will be filed with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office.
