Missing: 2 state prison inmates. Thomas Strutz and Joseph Leroi walked away from Unit C in Sioux Falls this evening.
Department of Corrections and staff members and local law enforcement are searching for two missing state prison inmates from Sioux Falls.
Inmates Thomas Strutz and Joseph Leroi were last seen at Unit C, the minimum-security unit of the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary, this evening.
Strutz is a 33-year-old Native American male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 6-feet-2-inches tall and weighs approximately 210 pounds. He is currently serving a 5-year sentence for fourth-offense DWI out of Codington County.
Leroi is a 45-year-old Native American male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 6-feet-3 inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He is currently serving a 10-year sentence for grand theft out of Day County.
There are more than 800 minimum-security inmates housed across the state, including nearly 269 at Unit C in Sioux Falls.
