ESPD Officers Teach Drug Abuse Awareness and Prevention During Red Ribbon Week
During Red Ribbon Week, ESPD officers visited local schools to educate students on drug abuse awareness and prevention.
Young students were treated to a police K9 demonstration on drug detection. High school students were challenged to complete simple physical tasks such as walking in a straight line or catching a ball in mid-air while wearing specially designed goggles. The goggles negatively impact a person’s visual abilities and balance to simulate the effects of alcohol. The goggles bring awareness to the wearer on how alcohol affects the ability to function.
