FRANKLIN COUNTY: On November 04, 2014 around 6:23 AM, the Franklin County Sheriff Department and Indiana State Police responded to a 911 call of gunshots fired within the residence owned by BERTRAM RAYBURN at 110 Edgerton Street in Laurel, Indiana.
According to Indiana State Police Investigator Kip Main, DWIGHT JONES 59, of Laurel sustained a gunshot wound during the early morning incident. JONES was transported by ambulance to Fayette Regional Health System and then flown to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. On November 05, 2014, JONES was pronounced dead as a result of the gunshot wound.
According to Investigator Main, the investigation is on-going as Detectives are following up on multiple leads in what is believed to be an isolated incident. Agencies assisting the state police with the investigation include the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Marion County Coroner’s Office and Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.
