Muncie- This afternoon around 3:45 p.m. a member of the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Unit was working a plain clothed detail at the Wal-Mart of Muncie, located at 1501 E. 29th St. Muncie, IN. The Trooper noticed a man pull a plastic bag out of his pocket and place items into the bag. Upon further investigation, the Trooper determined the suspect also had a receipt and attempted to return the items for cash. The Trooper identified himself with a badge and police identification. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Arrested was Kenneth L. Simmons, age 36, of Muncie, IN. He was charged with Fraud, a Class 6 Felony and Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class “A” Misdemeanor. He was lodged at the Delaware County Jail.

The Trooper was assisted in this incident by Delaware County EMS; Muncie Police Department; Wal-Mart loss prevention; and an unknown customer.

Simmons was brought to Ball Memorial Hospital for a precautionary check out before being brought to the Delaware County Jail. The Trooper was not injured in this incident.
