ISP Peru Post Release Marijuana Eradication Statistics

Peru – Today, Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Ron Fisher, marijuana eradication officer for the Indiana State Police Peru Post, released marijuana eradication statistics for the Indiana State Police Peru District.

From March 2014 until October 2014, officers working within the seven counties covered by the Indiana State Police Peru Post eradicated 5,064 marijuana plants. They also recovered approximately eight pounds of processed marijuana and seized $22,800 worth of assets utilized in the illegal cultivation of marijuana.

Of the 5,064 plants eradicated, 404 were found as part of indoor marijuana growing operations. The eight ponds of processed marijuana were also found during the take down of indoor marijuana growing operations. A majority of the indoor growing operations were located during joint narcotics investigations with local police departments.

Troopers eradicated 4,660 marijuana plants found growing outdoors within the Indiana State Police Peru District which covers Cass, Fulton, Grant, Howard, Miami, Tipton, and Wabash Counties.

The 5.064 recovered marijuana plants would have produced between approximately 3,000 and 5,000 pounds of marijuana if it had been processed. The marijuana would have an approximate street value of $6,000,000.

The Indiana State Police is committed to removing illegal narcotics from Hoosier communities. Citizens are encouraged to report suspected illegal drug activity by contacting law enforcement or calling the anonymous Indiana State Police Marijuana Tip Line at 1-888-873-1694.
