Spaceship 2 Investigation Update - procedures for handling located debris

On Friday, October 31st, 2014 Virgin Galactic Spaceship 2 suffered an inflight anomaly and went down in the desert area about 25 miles north east of the city of Mojave. Wreckage from the aircraft was initially found over a several mile span near the intersection of Redrock Randsburg Rd. and Catlin Rd., northeast of Mojave and southwest of the city of Ridgecrest.

Within the last several days additional pieces of the aircraft have been found, some as far as 35 miles away from the area where the majority of the aircraft was located. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s assistance. If any person locates additional pieces of the aircraft, or any items which may be related to the aircraft, they are asked to leave the materials untouched and immediately notify the Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110.
