Chemical Endangerment Arrest

(Etowah County, Alabama) A Calhoun County woman has been arrested for chemical endangerment of a child, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Alexus Breanne Gaddy, 24, of Anniston, is charged with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony,” investigator Bobby Bryant said.

Gaddy tested positive for opiates and benzodiazepine and admitted to investigators that she took methadone during her pregnancy and ingested morphine and valium the day she went into labor.

Bond is set at $10,000. Gaddy will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must give a negative drug test before being released from the Etowah County Detention Center.

The case is also being worked by the Alabama Department of Human Resources in Calhoun County.
