AVOID the intersection of Alvarado Niles Rd and Almaden Rd for the next 4-5 hours due to a major traffic incident. Roads are closed. 
This morning at approximately 5am Union City Police Officers responded to the area of the 32000 block of Alvarado Niles Rd. regarding a general call for service. Upon arriving in the area it was soon discovered that an automobile vs. pedestrian collision had occurred. The pedestrian received life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital and ultimately died as a result of the collision. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police. Union City Police Investigators are on scene and investigating the collision. The identity of the victim is pending confirmation by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office and notification to family.
