Man Indicted for First-Degree Murder, Tampering with Evidence in February Homicide at Union University
The Madison County Grand Jury today indicted Charles Pittman, 22, of Jackson, for first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the February death of his fiancée, Olivia Greenlee, on Union University’s campus in Jackson, TN.
Pittman, who continues to be held at the Madison County Jail without bond, is scheduled to be arraigned at 8 a.m. next Monday in Madison County Circuit Court, Division I.
Jackson police were called to the parking lot of Luther Hall on Union's campus around 8 a.m. Feb. 12 after Greenlee, 21, was found dead inside her Toyota Corolla.
Police investigators and an assistant county medical examiner found a gun inside the car, and the cause of death was determined to be a single gunshot wound.
Police investigators developed Greenlee's fiancé, Pittman, as a person of interest. The investigation determined that Pittman shot Greenlee as she sat inside her car at Luther Hall and then staged the crime scene to give the appearance that Greenlee had committed suicide.
On Feb. 14, Pittman was arrested in Jackson and charged with Greenlee's murder.
Pittman and Greenlee were both Union students who lived separately off campus in Jackson.
