Vigo County—A three vehicle crash yesterday evening left a young mother dead and her two children seriously injured. The names are now being released.
Deceased: Rachel A. Hatcher, age 29, of Terre Haute, IN.
She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Family has been notified.
Injured: (Son) Brenton Touloukian, age 13, Terre Haute, IN.

Transported to Riley Children’s Hospital for treatment of arm, leg and internal injuries.
Injured: (Daughter) Alejandra Mendoza, age 19-months, of Terre Haute, IN.
Initially taken to Terre Haute Union Hospital for treatment of internal injuries, and then transferred to Riley Children’s Hospital for treatment of lower leg and internal injuries.
At 5:53 yesterday evening, Ms. Hatcher’s 2007 Ford Expedition failed to slow or stop for other traffic that was slowing or stopped in the westbound passing lane of Interstate 70 near the 14 mile marker. Her vehicle then struck a tractor-trailer in the rear. There appeared to be no evidence of her braking prior to the crash. The impact area was in a construction zone.
As of this afternoon, the children appear to be responding well to their medical treatment.
The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Michael Featherling.
