UPDATE - Murder, 500 W. Los Olivos Street, Victim’s Name & Additional Details Released

SANTA BARBARA, CA – October 31, 2014

The name of the victim in this case is Angela Laskey. Investigation revealed that she was killed with a knife by Aubrey Dupree Wadford during an incident of domestic violence. The couple have a 2-year old daughter.

The victim’s mother arrived in Los Angeles last night, from Scotland, and was met at Los Angeles International Airport by SBPD detectives. She has been put in contact with victim and child welfare advocates and arrangements are currently being made for her to take custody of her granddaughter.

The name of the suspect in this case is Aubrey Dupree Wadford. The identity of the victim is still being withheld, pending contact with relatives.

SANTA BARBARA, CA – October 29, 2014

A 39-year old male Santa Barbara resident has been arrested for murder, stemming from an incident of domestic violence. The victim is a 39-year old female, also of Santa Barbara. The couple have a 2-year old daughter who was unharmed.

On October 29, 2014 at 1:40 a.m., officers from the Santa Barbara Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call of a disturbance occurring in an apartment on the 500 block of W. Los Olivos Street. Upon arrival they contacted the reporting party and then went to the apartment where the disturbance was reported to have taken place. The officers contacted the suspect at the front door of the apartment and found the victim, deceased. The suspect was taken into custody and initially transported to the Santa Barbara Police Department. He was later booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for the crime of murder with a bail amount of $1,000,000.00.

Investigation indicates that this was an incident of domestic violence and that the victim died of injuries sustained during the assault. The suspect and victim were not married but have a 2-year old daughter that was present at the scene. The girl was not harmed during the incident and she is now being cared for by Santa Barbara County Child Welfare Services. Due to the early and ongoing nature of this investigation the names of the suspect and victim, along with other details, are being withheld.
