Pico Rivera Station Celebrates Red Ribbon Week, October 23rd-31st #LASD #LASDPRV

Pico Rivera Station Deputies Zarda and Felix recently spoke at Sorensen Elementary School in West Whittier.  They were there to promote the nation's largest and oldest drug prevention campaign, “Red Ribbon Week.”  The campaign reaches 80 million people each year throughout the United States.

The 2014 Red Ribbon Theme is “Love Yourself. Be Drug Free.”

Red Ribbon Week is a product of the National Family Partnership, (NFP) which was established as a grassroots, nonprofit organization in 1980 by a handful of concerned and determined parents who were convinced they should begin to play a leadership role in drug prevention. In 1988, NFP sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.
