The Boys and Girls Clubs 12th Annual ‘Stand Up For Kids’ Gala a Huge Success #Boys&GirlsClub @BGC_GCV #LASD

On Saturday, October 18, 2014, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley hosted its 12th Annual ‘Stand Up For Kids’ Gala Dinner & Auction. The event was a huge success, exceeding expectations and gaining more support and interest for the organization than in previous years.  Members of the community attended as well as city and state officials in order to raise awareness for the local Boys & Girls Clubs, guiding and mentoring kids from Newbury Park to Calabasas.

For many years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Conejo Valley has been dedicated to providing children ages 3-14 with nurturing and inspiring after school and summer programs that have proven effective in helping children succeed in life.  The Boys & Girls Club gives kids the resources to discover the potential in themselves, as well as providing them with ways to develop character through fine arts, academic support and health and fitness. Kids and their parents are able to choose the programs and activities that interest them and that they believe they will most benefit from. Because the Boys & Girls Club firmly believes that every child should be able to benefit from these programs, the organization depends on the generosity of individuals to ensure that all children can benefit from the Club.

The 12th Annual ‘Stand Up For Kids’ Gala Dinner & Auction was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village, and every dollar raised went towards the funding and operating of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Greater Conejo Valley.  Some attendees included retired U.S. Representative Elton Gallegly, City of Agoura Hills Council Member Denis Weber, Agoura Hills City Manager Greg Ramirez, City of Calabasas Council Member Fred Gaines, as well as many Conejo Valley and Las Virgenes School District representatives. During the gala, guests were welcomed by members of the program as well as a professional photographer, and were invited to browse an extensive array of silent auction items while enjoying the sounds of the Boys & Girls Club choir group.  The focal point of the evening was the live auction, which helped to secure the record setting fund raising efforts, while dancing and dessert rounded out the evening’s events.
According to Lieutenant Seetoo of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, who also attended the gala, “The evening was magical and moving.” Lt. Seetoo further recognized the necessity of community involvement in order to support this program, and stresses the importance of prevention, rather than reaction. “Giving kids guidance from an early age will prevent crime. The Boys & Girls Club provides this guidance, and the community needs to come together to support this worthy cause.”
