Police receive grant funding to purchase AED
The Chula Vista Police Department has received funding from the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation to purchase one Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Package, which will be deployed in the Patrol Operations Division. According to the Cardiac Science Corporation sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in North America striking approximately 1,000 people every single day. Law enforcement officers are often the first on scene of a cardiac emergency. Equipping law enforcement first responders with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) ensures that victims of sudden cardiac arrest will receive timely life-saving treatment. The Chula Vista Police Department now has four Automated External Defibrillators available to personnel in the field.
