Advisory

Prolific Tagger arrested for alleged responsibility of a string of graffiti vandalisms from SF to Santa Clara County.

In early October 2014, information was developed regarding the identity of a prolific graffiti tagger, who has caused a large amount of damage by spray painting graffiti on public and private property along the US-101 corridor from San Francisco to Santa Clara County. This information was developed by Community Safety Police Officer Mary Ferguson who was able to identify a possible suspect while investigating another graffiti related incident. The information also indicated that the possible suspect used the moniker “STAND” when vandalizing property.

This information was forwarded to the Menlo Park Police Investigations unit. Detective Aaron Dixon gathered further information from other patrol officers and the suspect’s identity was confirmed.

On October 28, 2014, a search warrant was served at the suspect’s residence in the 1300 block of Carlton Ave., in Menlo Park. Several items of evidence were located during this search connecting the suspect to the string of graffiti vandalisms. The suspect was not at home when the search warrant was served.

On October 29, 2014, the suspect, Aderis Williams, an 18 year old resident of Menlo Park, surrendered to police. Williams was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on a charge of felony vandalism. At this time, over 50 victims have been identified in San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, with damage estimated over $15,000.
