Watch for parcel thefts from door steps
The Holiday season is right around the corner and online shopping is now a popular alternative. The convenience of having items shipped to your home and having them left on your doorstep is appealing; however, the Torrance Police Department is cautioning against this. Unattended packages make it far too easy for thieves to take the packages and flee.
Also, recent online scams using the carrier’s website can help thieves track packages to specific addresses. Again, when packages are left unattended on porches or doorsteps, it is far too easy for thieves to take the packages and flee.
Ways to avoid being a victim of this type of theft include: Authorize that a signature be required for delivery; Ask a neighbor to immediately retrieve your package; Have the package delivered to a neighbor’s home; Have the package delivered to the closest HUB of the carrier and retrieve the package from the HUB at your convenience with proper identification.
Don’t be a victim this Holiday Season!
