Tomorrow is Halloween and it is an exciting time of the year for children. In order to ensure their safety here are some safety considerations for children:
* When your children get home check all treats to make sure they are sealed and there are no signs of tampering.
* Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure shoes fit well and costumes are short enough to prevent tripping.
* Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes
* Make sure wigs or accessories are labeled as flame resistant.
* Swords, knives and other accessories should be short, soft and flexible.
* Parents or responsible adults should always accompany young children.
* If older children are going alone plan and review their route that is acceptable to you and agree on a return time.
* Give your children flashlights with new batteries.
* Never go into homes of strangers. Only approach houses with porch lights on.
* Notify the police immediately of any suspicious activity.
Trunk or Treat - Mahwah Municipal Building Friday, October 31, 2014 starting at 5:30 p.m. .Costume parade (infants through grade 5) starts at 6:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded. Those who wish to set up cars to distribute candy should arrive between 4:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. Decorated cars are encouraged to get into the spirit. Event held rain or shine.
