*Update* #LASD, #SEB Stops Active Shooter, 4200 blk of West 164th Street, South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding an active shooter and the subsequent deputy-involved shooting which started early Wednesday, October 29, 2014, and concluded later that afternoon.
The suspect, 23 year-old Travis Herr, a resident of Lawndale, used multiple firearms to shoot at deputies, vehicles and neighboring homes from his residence.
Preliminary information indicates that South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station had previously received numerous calls for service at his residence.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. He currently faces charges of Attempt Murder on a Peace Officer.
There is no additional information available at this time.
Whenever an Officer Involved Shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and it results in the wounding of a suspect, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene. These include separate investigations by the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney in addition to investigations by Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau. Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.

Time: 12:40 P.M.
Location: 4200 block of West 164th Street, Lawndale
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), Special Weapons Team, responded to the 4200 block of West 164th Street, Lawndale, to assist South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station regarding a “person with a gun” call.
For the safety of all the residents, the neighborhood was immediately evacuated.
After having assumed command of the tactical response, which was confronted by the active shooter, SEB worked to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.
At this time, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives have additionally been notified and are responding to the scene.
