APD arrest Amarillo man afer Tuesday morning break-in.

On Tuesday October 28th at 11:25am, APD officers were sent to the 4200 block of Roxton on domestic violence call. Officers were advised that a male had just broken into a residence and pointed a weapon at a female occupant. Upon arrival officers learned that the male had already left the area but was still in possession of a handgun. Officers also had information that the male had made comments about going to a nearby elementary school and picking up his child. That school was contacted and was recommended to lock out all visitors until the male could be located. After a few hours of checking and not locating the male suspect the school was re-contacted and told them they could resume normal visitation procedures. At approximately 3:00pm, APD officers and SWAT team members determined the suspect was in a motel in the 7400 block of Amarillo Blvd West. Officers made contact with the occupant of the room and after a short negation, the suspect agreed to come out. The male was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered from the motel room. The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment for his injuries that he suffered while breaking into the residence on Roxton. He is identified as Christopher Keith Chesser W/M 35 of Amarillo. Chesser was later transported and booked into the Randall County Jail on a charge of Burglary with intent to commit assault on a family member.
