Redwood City Police Arrest Homicide Suspect

VICTIM: Adult Male, 32 year-old, Redwood City resident
SUSPECT: Jake Monahan, 24 year-old, transient, from San Carlos

On Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at approximately 8:25 PM, officers responded to Courthouse Square on a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived they located the victim who was suffering from at least one stab wound. The victim was transported to Stanford Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers were able to identify the suspect and began searching the area for him. The suspect was located in the 600 block of Warren Street and taken into custody without incident. The preliminary investigation determined the victim and suspect are acquaintances and were involved in a physical altercation before the stabbing occurred.
The suspect was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for homicide. Anyone with information regarding this incident or this suspect is encouraged to contact Detective Josh Chilton at 650-780-7141.
