Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing to assist Pomona Police Department investigate the shooting of a Pomona Police Officer during the service of a search warrant today, Tuesday, October 28, at approximately 4:00 am.

At the direction of LASD Homicide Bureau, 36 year-old David Martinez, a resident of San Gabriel, was booked by Montebello Police Department for Attempt Murder on a Peace Officer.  He is being held in lieu of four million dollars bail.

Suspect Martinez’ criminal history includes assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.

At approximately four o'clock this morning, a joint task force between multi agencies including Pomona PD, Montebello PD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, were serving a search warrant at the 100 block of San Marino Avenue when officers made entry into the residence. The officers were immediately met with gunfire and a male, 45 year-old Pomona PD officer was struck in the upper torso. He was transported to a local hospital and rushed into surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.

One suspect is in custody and charges are pending.

This is an on-going investigation with a joint task force and there is no additional information available at this time.
