TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO WEAPON AND DRUG CHARGES
On October 28, 2014, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Narcotic officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by William Lee Cash for an expired registration and an insurance violation.
Cash failed to stop for blue lights and sirens and began to flee, resulting in a short car chase on Old 221 North.
During the pursuit, officers observed the passenger, later identified as Kendrick Jerel Lattimore, throw a bag from the window of the vehicle.
Officers were able to get the vehicle stopped at Old 221-N and 221-N.
Officers went back to the area where the bag was thrown from the vehicle and recovered a pistol, 19 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of marijuana, and a set of digital scales.
Cash and Lattimore were arrested and transported to Rutherford County Detention Facility to face charges;
William Cash, who gave an address of Wilkins Street in Forest City, was charged with: DWLR License Not Reclaimed, Flee/Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle and Reckless Driving to Endanger.
Bond for Cash was set at $21,000.00 secured.
Kendrick Lattimore, who gave an address of Piney Ridge Road in Forest City was charged with: Possess W/Intent Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Marijuana, Possess Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possess W/Intent Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Cocaine.
Bond for Lattimore was set at $80,000.00.
Rutherford County Sheriff's Criminal Interdiction Team and Rutherfordton Police Department assisted in these arrests.
