Three Santa Maria Residents Arrested in Murder Case
For the past two months, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office detectives have been investigating the murder of Javier Alcantar Limon, whose body was found with multiple gunshot wounds on August 19, 2014, near the entrance to the Guadalupe Dunes. As a result of their investigation, three Santa Maria residents have been identified and arrested in connection with Limon’s murder. Detectives have determined the homicide is related to criminal street gang and drug activity.
On September 11, Sheriff’s detectives arrested 26-year-old Gregorio Agustine of Santa Maria following a traffic stop in the City of Santa Maria. He appeared in court yesterday, October 27 and is charged by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office with murder. He is also charged with several special circumstances including lying in wait, kidnap, torture and committing the murder for criminal street gang purposes. Also as a result of a search warrant in the 400 block of West Fesler Street in the City of Santa Maria on September 11, Agustine has also been charged with possession of ammunition and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
On September 24th, Sheriff’s detectives arrested 24-year-old Yesenia Granados and her brother, 22-year-old Arturo Granados of Santa Maria following a traffic stop in the City of Santa Maria. The Granados siblings also appeared in court yesterday. The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office charged Arturo Granados with murder with special allegations which include lying in wait, kidnap, torture and committing the murder for criminal street gang purposes. Yesenia Granados was charged with being an accessory after the fact and a gang allegation. She also has a probation violation for possession of a controlled substance.
All three suspects are being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail without bail. They are due back in court on October 31, 2014.T
