*UPDATE* #LASD Deputy Involved Hit Shooting, Downey Av S/of Rosecrans, Paramount – @LKDLASD

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation regarding the circumstance surrounding a Deputy Involved Hit Shooting in the area of Downey Avenue, Paramount.

Detectives have learned that at approximately 2:37 pm, a School Resource Deputy working at Paramount High School received information that a possible fight was pending.  Shortly thereafter, a second informant reported that one of the individuals was armed with a handgun.  The informant provided the deputy with a description of the individuals.

The deputy radioed a description of the suspects to other deputies who were searching the area.  A responding deputy saw individuals who matched the descriptions and attempted to make contact with one of them at which point, a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was hit and pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect is a Male Hispanic in his late 20's.

There are no additional suspects outstanding.

No deputies were injured.

The investigation is on-going and a handgun has not been recovered at this point.

Whenever an Officer Involved Shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and it results in the wounding of a suspect, multiple independent investigations immediately begin at the scene.  These include separate investigations by the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney in addition to investigations by Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau.  Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.
