Thornton Avenue remains closed due to police investigation 
The Newark Police Department is current conducting an investigation in the area of Thornton Avenue between Gateway Blvd and Willow Street. At approximately 1:23 PM the Newark Police Department was notified of a possible dead body along the edge of the roadway. Upon arrival officers located a dead male along the side Thornton Avenue. The Alameda County Coroner's Office responded to the scene. The identity of the male or the circumstances related to his death have not been determined at this time.
The Newark Police Department Detective Division is currently investigating this incident with the assistance of the Alameda County Coroner's Office.
