Update-Reward Increased up to $30,000, Homicide Victim Perla Avina-98th Ave.

The Oakland Police Department continues to request the public’s help in solving this crime. Crime Stoppers of Oakland and the Oakland Police Department have increased the reward to up to $30,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.

At this time we are not releasing additional information but will certainly keep you updated as we receive information for release. The Oakland Police Department would like to thank the media for their continued assistance.

BACKGROUND: On October 26, 2014, just after 12:30 PM, victim Perla Avina, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling south bound in the 400-600 block of 98th Avenue, when she was fatally shot. Investigators believe this incident may possibly be related to road rage. The victim vehicle is as a 1998 Toyota Camry, black in color. Anyone who may have witnessed this crime is encouraged to contact the Oakland Police Department Homicide section at (510) 238-3821 or call Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.

Investigators are requesting help from
anyone who may have:

• Witnessed the shooting;
• Witnessed a possible confrontation between the victim and suspect(s); or
• Seen the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene after the shooting.
